Equestes Institute

Equestes is an institute that combines knowledge and experience in the international interfaces of the veterinary and legal equestrian sports world.

Equestes aims to act as a professional binding consultant/adviser. Equestes may also be appointed as an expert at the request of courts, mediators and arbitration institutes. Equestes wants to emphasize that it will only act as an advisory party or expert with approval of all parties involved.

Luc Schelstraete and Piotr Wawrzyniak from European Equine Lawyers presenting Equestes in Wellington; Florida.
On Thursday, 23 February last Luc Schelstraete, Piotr wawrzyniak (European Equine Lawyers) and Erik Bergman (De Lingehoeve) organized and provided a presentation during the Winter Equestrian Festival. The presentation was organized as a Lunch & Learn session, in which the speakers outlined do's and don'ts of doing equine business in Europe.

Mr. Piotr Wawrzyniak, attorney-at-law from European Equine Lawyers, reviewed the ten commandments of doing equine business in Europe. Dr. Erik Bergman, veterinarian from De Lingehoeve and member of the Equestes Expert Panel, reviewed the international pre-purchase examination and the Equestes models herefor. Mr. Luc Schelstraete, attorney-at-law and CEO of EEL and Equestes, leaded the Lunch and Learn session.

There was a great attendance and both EEL and Equestes had a very good response in the United States.

One of Equestes’ primary objectives is to organize and maintain a group of veterinary equine surgeons and equine lawyers, referred to by Equestes as the Expert Panel. The Expert Panel consists of attorneys and veterinarians who possess extensive experience in their professional fields with respect to international equestrian sports.
